Dan Dugan Sound Design is the Northern California service station for Nagra recorders, made by the Swiss company Kudelski SA, Nagraaudio.com. We offer Nagra pro audio products for sale, custom calibration to high-performance standards, and warranty service with hundreds of parts in stock.

Nagra has issued a new edition of the Nagra V stereo recorder, incorporating many improvements suggested by users. The recording medium is now a removable ATA hard drive plus an optional internal hard drive. Timecode and a dual-channel modulometer are available as options. 24/96, BWF file format, M/S decoder, Pre-recording buffer, Battery powered.

The ARES-PII+ is an improved version of Nagra's hand-held solid-state (flash memory card) digital recorder with a microphone socket (mono or stereo) on top. It records mono or stereo uncompressed .wav files or MPEG files on PC-cards. Editing is possible in the field.

The ARES-BB is a field recorder with all the features of the ARES-PII in an over-the-shoulder package. It has larger controls, standard XLR connectors, and a USB port. The front panel tilts for table-top operation. Battery life (six AA) is eight hours.

The ARES-M can be carried in your jacket pocket as a replacement for MiniDisc. It records mono or stereo PCM, or MPEG compressed files for longer recording times, in a 2 GB built-in memory. The unit is powered by two “AA” batteries that give 10 hours of operation. Equipped with a built-in mono microphone and a plug-on stereo microphone (shown above) for high quality audio recordings. The ARES-M offers instant start-up, one button recording, optional automatic level control and an internal loudspeaker.
Most Nagra IV-S users ignore the second 15 ips position on the speed switch, labeled "Nagra Master." This is too bad, because it's a very useful tool. Read more about it here.
Does this pressed CD sound like my CD-R? Did the pressing plant screw up my sound? We can do a subtraction test of source and product and make a definitive report on whether audio has been degraded or altered in any way. $150 per song.
