Nagra has issued a new edition of the Nagra V stereo recorder, seen at left, incorporating many improvements suggested by users. The recording medium is now a removable ATA hard drive plus an optional internal hard drive. Timecode and a dual-channel modulometer are available as options. 24/96, BWF file format, M/S decoder, Pre-recording buffer, Battery powered. The ARES-PII+ is an improved version of Nagra's hand-held solid-state (flash memory card) digital recorder with a microphone socket (mono or stereo) on top. It records mono or stereo uncompressed .wav files or MPEG files on PC-cards. Editing is possible in the field. The ARES-BB is a field recorder with all the features of the ARES-PII in an over-the-shoulder package. It has larger controls, standard XLR connectors, and a USB port. The front panel tilts for table-top operation. Battery life (six AA) is eight hours. The ARES-M can be carried in your jacket pocket as a replacement for MiniDisc. It records mono or stereo PCM, or MPEG compressed files for longer recording times, in a 2 GB built-in memory. The unit is powered by two “AA” batteries that give 10 hours of operation. Equipped with a built-in mono microphone and a plug-on stereo microphone (shown above) for high quality audio recordings. The ARES-M offers instant start-up, one button recording, optional automatic level control and an internal loudspeaker.
